Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium 2017-2018

Pupil Premium is additional funding given to schools to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their wealthier peers.

The Government believes that schools should decide how the Pupil Premium is allocated and spent, since it is felt that they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their responsibility. From September 2012, schools are required to publish online information about how they have used the Premium. This will ensure that parents and others are made fully aware of the attainment of pupils covered by the Premium.

So far this year we have provided:

  • A range of intervention programs to help children reach their full potential in Literacy and Numeracy e.g. Rainbow Club, Lexia, Project X Code
  • Parent Liaison Officer
  • Support for raising the attendance of Pupil Premium pupils
  • Uniform vouchers
  • Subsidies for school clubs, extra curricular activities and school trips

Pupil Premium and Free School Meals
An update for our parents

The Pupil Premium was set up by the government in January 2011. It means that the school will receive additional funds for children who are eligible to receive free school meals. Therefore, if you think your child might be entitled to free school meals, it will help the school enormously if you register by completing the application form attached and returning it to the school office along with the required evidence as listed on the form. Please do this even if you do not intend your child to have free school meals.

You are entitled to Free School Meals if you are in receipt of Income Support, an Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, an Income-Related Employment and Support Allowance, Child Tax Credit (only if you do NOT receive Working Tax Credit), Guaranteed Element of State Pension Credit, National Asylum Support Service.

If you are entitled to free school meals you are also entitled to free school milk for your child.
