Welcome to Year 6's website page. Here, you will be able to find out what we are learning as well as see regular updates of us engaging in and enjoying our work. This half term our learning will be centered on the human body. This will involve learning lots of new scientific knowledge as well as applying our growing enquiry skills. Some of this exciting learning will include: identifying and describing parts of the human circulatory system and explaining how they work and using this understanding to explain how nutrients is transported in animals and humans.
Our class novel this half term is Pig Heart Boy, by Malorie Blackman. In addition to this, we will be reading a range of non-fiction texts to support our learning across the curriculum. We will be linking much of our learning together through the use of these texts. In history, the children will learn gain knowledge about animal rights throughout time and will use this understanding to debate the issue. At the start of the term we will have a visit from Biddick Academy, who will show us how to dissect a heart! There are also many other fantastic learning opportunities planned throughout the term.
PE for Year 6 will be on a Friday so please ensure that a suitable PE kit is in school at the start of each week. Homework is also issued on a Friday and should be returned by the following Tuesday; we offer a homework club on a Monday lunchtime to support children with this.
