Welcome to Year 6's website page!
Here, you will be able to find out what we are learning as well as see regular updates of us engaging in and enjoying our work. During the Autumn term, the topics the children will be learning are 'The Victorians' and 'WW2'. This will involve learning lots of new enquiry skills as well as gaining lots of knowledge and understanding about these periods of time. Some of this exciting learning will include: investigating the industrial revolution and considering the impact this had locally; looking at the expansion of the British Empire and investigating prolific artists from these time periods.
The class books which we will be reading are: Alice in Wonderland and Goodnight Mr Tom. We will also be reading and creating a range of other poetry, fiction and non-fiction texts beginning with The Jabberwocky! We will be linking much of our learning together through these themes.
In Science, the children will learn all about evolution and electricity whilst applying their investigative skills in different ways. At the start of the term we will be attending Dukeshouse Wood for our residential visit and there are many other fantastic learning opportunities planned throughout the term.
PE for Year 6 will be on a Friday so please ensure that a suitable PE kit is in school each week.
