On Saturday 17th May, Rickleton Primary School opened its doors to celebrate 60 years since the closure of the Cotia pit.

The school is built on the site of the old pit so this was a very special occasion for the school and local community.

The day involved music from Norther Roots Folk Band, Bearpark and Esh Colliery Band and the school choir.  There were lots of artefacts and historical information on display.

The event was a huge success with many people attending.
