Welcome to Reception’s website page.  Here you will be able to find out what we are learning about as well as see regular updates of us engaging in and enjoying our work.

 

During the Summer term, the topics the children will be learning are seasonal changes and the changes that Spring and Summer brings. This will involve learning about lots of new and exciting things such as photosynthesis and metamorphism. We will also be learning about Superheroes and People Who Help Us, which will involve learning about lots of new and exciting things such as how to stay fit and healthy, dental hygiene, sun safety and how a range of important people help us. We will also learn how we can become an active citizen.

 

In Read Write Inc, we will be learning set 2 and 3 sounds. We will continue to practice segmenting simple words and sentences. We will be learning to retell the story of Little Red Riding Hood and having a go at re-writing the traditional tale ourselves.

 

The class books which we will be reading are Little Red Riding Hood and Supertato by Sue Hendra.  We will be linking as much of our learning as possible together with enhancements in the Continuous Provision relating very closely to our current learning. In our Wider Curriculum, the children will be taking part in a science experiment to discover the ideal environment for seeds and plants to grow in. We will also be learning about different celebrations, including St. George’s Day, Ramadan and learning morals through stories.

 

During the Summer Term, we will be holding a Ball Skills Event to showcase our PE learning from the year. PE will continue to be on a Monday, so please make sure that a suitable PE kit is in school.
