Swimming Gala
Great success at the Primary Schools Swimming Gala for some of our children from Year 5 & 6. Rickleton entered two girls and two boys team into the competition against a number of other schools from across Sunderland. And they did not let us down.
Both boys teams dominated the Freestyle Relay, finishing in 1st AND 2nd place in their final. The girls had a tougher job, with one team finishing only 2 secs behind an exceptionally strong girls' team from St Mary's. The success continued into the final of the Medley Finals, with the boys taking away 1st and 3rd place. The girls team put every effort in to their final, coming up short by less than a sec this time to be awarded another Silver medal.
Finally, a new race to complete the morning, the Cannon. 4 girls and 4 boys swim in a relay in any order. Our 8 children were immense and it was never in doubt as they romped home by over a length to their nearest rivals.
Each and every one of the team were a pleasure to take and I was exceptionally proud of what they achieved. Very well deserved.
