  • Sportshall Athletics Winners

    Thu 19 Oct 2023

49 Y5 and 6 pupils travelled to the Puma Tennis Centre in Sunderland to take part in the first round of the Sunderland Sportshall Athletics Competition. Entering two teams allows more children to experience competitive athletics and put to the test the skills they have learned in their recent coaching blocks with Sam Stanislaus (National Athletic Coach). The hard work payed off when competing against 11 other schools, our B team came in 5th place and our A team came in 1st place, beating their closest rivals by over 50pts. Well done everyone for your performance and also the positive attitude shown throughout the event.

To kick start recycling week, our eco council presented a fantastic assembly about why it is so important to recycle and how we can do this at Rickleton! We were also joined by Liz and Becky from 'Keep Washington Tidy'.  The link below is to a video which the eco council put together.

  • Recycle Week 2023

    Fri 13 Oct 2023

This year’s theme is ‘The Big Recycling Hunt’ and to celebrate, the Eco Council are holding an e-waste collection. If you have any small electrical items which are no longer used such as mobile phones or electrical toothbrushes, you can drop them off at the collection box outside the main office between Monday 16th – Friday 20th October. The items will then be collected and recycled. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accept any large items.

  • Harvest Festival

    Thu 05 Oct 2023

A lovely harvest festival this week where a huge donation was collected by our school community for the People's Kitchen in Newcastle, a charity which looks after homeless people. We began the service by celebrating how lucky we are to have everything we need and the idea of celebrating this by giving to others less fortunate. Rev. Nick from St. George's Church then led the service sharing the Christian aspect of Harvest. After lunch, the van from the People's Kitchen arrived to collect all of our donations, described as one of the biggest collections they'd ever seen. As ever, the generosity of the Rickleton community is remarkable. Thanks to all who contributed.
