Free School Meal Support

You may be entitled to Free School Meals if you are in receipt of Income Support, an Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, an Income-Related Employment and Support Allowance, Child Tax Credit (only if you do NOT receive Working Tax Credit), Guaranteed Element of State Pension Credit, National Asylum Support Service.

The Pupil Premium was set up by the government in January 2011.  As well as your child receiving a free school meal, it means that school will also receive additional funds for children who are eligible to receive free school meals.  Therefore, if you think your child might be entitled to free school meals, it will help the school enormously if you register by completing the application form attached and returning it to the school office along with the required evidence as listed on the form.  Please do this even if you do not intend your child to have free school meals.

Further advice and support with applications can be found on the local authority website:

www.togetherforchildren.org.uk/parents-carers/free-school-meals

The letter below outlines the benefits available to pupils who are registered for free school meals at our school - please speak to the office for more advice or support completing the application form.

If you are experiencing significant financial difficulties and are lacking vital resources for your family including food, please contact us at school where we can point you in the direction of available support.

One such organisation is the Washington Foodbank - a referral form is available below including contact information for the charity.
