Rickleton Primary School requires pupils to wear school uniform. This is in line with most primary schools and all of the local Primary Schools in Washington.
The Governing body, in consultation with parents, have decided on simple and practical school uniform which is comfortable and practical to wear as well as being an important factor in promoting our school identity.
The uniform code has been designed to give pupils a sense of togetherness and team spirit so that they can feel proud to be part of the school.
Also there are health and safety requirements that mean our uniform represents a safe set of clothing and footwear for busy active learners whilst ensuring that our pupils are visible and identifiable in the community – this is especially important on out of school trips.
Staff will monitor closely the standards of uniform throughout the school from the start of the Autumn term so that we maintain consistency across the school.
At Rickleton Primary School the uniform code is:
School badged sweatshirt or cardigan in red.
School badged white or navy polo shirt.
Grey, black or navy trousers/shorts/skirts (not jogging or tracksuit bottoms). Skirts should be cotton type and not stretch lycra material.
Red gingham print dress.
Skirts and dresses can be worn with knee socks or tights – above the knee socks or leggings are not appropriate.
Flat black school shoes – NOT trainers, black multi-purpose trainer type shoes can be worn but not with logos or stripes.
If weather is very wet or snowy and pupils wear Wellington boots to school, then they should change into their school shoes once at school.
For PE and games ,a plain T-shirt in red or white with Black/navy shorts should be worn. Plimsoles for indoor PE must be worn. Trainers can be provided for PE lessons outside – any type suitable for multi surface and supportive to feet.
Children may wear plain hair accessories which are white, red, blue or black. Children will be asked to remove decorative hair pieces.
Jewellery must not be worn.
Temporary tattoos and nail varnish are also not allowed.
We ask that children refrain from bringing large bags to school as there is not enough space to store them safely. Children may use a book bag and a PE bag.
