Chinese New Year
Nursery have had a fantastic time learning all about Chinese New Year with a workshop hosted by Durham University. They listened to and acted out the Zodiac story, dressing up as the different animals. They explored some Chinese items from the museum, including a hat that would be given to children as a present, a block of tea and some red envelopes. They made paper chain snakes and shadow puppets to signify the Year of the Snake too. To end the session, they listened to the story of Nian, which taught them why Chinese New Year was first celebrated and finally, they took part in a traditional Dragon Dance.
