Year Group Pages
Our year groups are named after the rainbow - a sign of peace, positivity and new beginnings. Please see the class page below, with more information about what happens in each year group and how things are organised.
Rainbow Nursery (including Rising 3s)
Our teachers in Nursery are Miss Ebdon (Rainbow Class) supported by Ms Laidler, Mrs Gregory and Mrs Robson.
Please find below our term by term curriculum plan for the year. This will tell you what we are learning about in all of our subjects and many of the exciting things we are doing in our learning. During Academic year 2025/26, we will be following CYCLE B.
PE Lessons and Kit
PE for Nursery will take place on THURSDAY MORNING and Rising 3 will take place on a THURSDAY AFTERNOON and children will need PE kit.
- Non-branded solid red t-shirt or solid red long sleeved top (plain or with school logo)
- Plain black (non-branded) PE shorts or jogging bottoms. Sport leggings may be worn but must be plain black
- Sport trainers or plimsoles may be worn for PE
If PE kit is not brought, school will provide suitable equipment to ensure your child does not miss a lesson.
If a child is ill or injured, they will only be able to miss the lessons if a letter has been provided by their parent/guardian. A new letter must be provided for each lesson unless agreed with the teacher.
For Health and Safety reasons, all jewellery, including watches, must be removed for PE. If a child has earrings, they will be asked to remove them for the lesson. In the event of an infection, please contact school so teachers are aware not to remove earrings. As this should only be for a short amount of time until the infection is clear, school will provide medical tape to cover the earrings so PE is not missed.
Additional blocks of PE will take place across the year and staff will inform parents in advance when these are due to happen.
Reading Spine
Reading at Rickleton is always a priority and much of our learning is linked to class novels. The attached reading spine shows the class text for each term and a spine of linked and suggested reads, in many different styles and formats to suit all readers. Parents may find this useful when choosing or buying books across the year.

In preparation for the start of year 6, we ask that pupils read the book below, on which a lot of their learning will be based. This can be read as a personal book or, if struggling with the content, as some nighttime parent/child story time.
Y6 SATs information
As Y6 pupils undertake SATs testing, many parents have a range of questions about how testing and test preparation happens. The powerpoint below is taken from the annual parent information meeting we hold and may be useful for parents to view.
